Booking terms and conditions for direct booking of self-catering accommodations

Article 1

The present contract is for the sole use of bookings placed for a stay in a self -catering accommodation bearing the trademark "Gîtes de France" acknowledged by the Regional Office of Gîtes de France on behalf of the National Federation of Gîtes de France and Tourisme Vert. The National Federation of Gîtes de France and Tourisme Vert cannot be held responsible in case of use of these terms by third parties or misuse outside the tourist industry.

Article 2 : Period of letting

dates and times are clearly stated on the present contract. The client signing the contract has no right whatsoever to remain on the property beyond the termination date of the letting.

Article 3 : Booking confirmation

Booking becomes effective when the owner receives your deposit payment corresponding to 25% of the total cost of your rental along with a copy of the hiring contract signed by the client, before the deadline stated at the back of the contract. The other copy of the contract has to be kept by the client.
The contract agreed between the owner and the client signing hereunder cannot be transferred even partially to third parties, unless written agreement from the owner. Any breakage to this clause can result in the immediate cancellation of the booking without refund to the client.

Article 4 : Cancellation placed by the hirer

Any booking cancellation has to be made in written by registered letter. All cancellations must be made by letter, fax or telegram addressed to the owner.
a) cancellation placed before arrival ; the deposit is non returnable. The owner will be entitled to claim the balance if cancellation happens less than 30 days before the commencing date of your stay.
If the client has not turned up after 24 hours following the expected arrival date without notice, the contract is cancelled and the owner can use the gite as he likes. The deposit is not returnable and the owner is entitled to claim the balance.
b) if the stay is cut short, the full price paid remains to the owner and the client cannot expect any reimbursement.

Article 5 : Cancellation placed by the owner

The owner refunds the client every money he has paid plus a compensation at least equivalent to the amount the client would have to pay if he had cancelled at the same date.

Article 6 : Arrival

Guests should arrive on the day and time stated on the present hiring agreement. In case of delayed or postponed arrival, guests must advise the owner.

Article 7 : Balance payment

The full balance has to be paid on arrival to the gite.

Article 8 : Property inspection

An inspection is carried out in the presence of the hirer and the owner both upon arrival to the gite and before departure. The inspection certificate signed by both parties is the only valid document in the event of a dispute arising over the inspection.

Article 9 : Security deposit

A security deposit will have to be paid on arrival to the owner/keyholder. The amount is specified at the back of the present contract. After inspection, it will be returned to the hirer at the end of your stay minus the cost of breakage or damage if noted..
In case of advanced departure (prior to the times indicated) and impossibility to carry out the inspection the day of departure, a refund of the deposit will be made within a week by the owner.

Article 10 : Use of the gite

the hirer is responsible for keeping the property quiet and is expected to use it only for the purposes for which the hire has been agreed.

Article 11 : Party number

The maximum number of persons allowed is stated on your hiring contract. The Owner or representative has the right to refuse to admit more than the number of persons allowed in the accommodation booked .
Any change or breach of contract will be the client's responsibility.

Article 12 : Pets

The present contract confirms if pets are accepted or not in the accommodation booked. In case of non-respect, the owner can refuse to let his property.

Article 13 :Insurance cover

The client is liable for any loss, damage or breakage noted during his stay . He has to be covered by a comprehensive holiday insurance.

Article 14 : Payment of extra charges

At the end of the stay, the client must pay to the owner or representative any extra charges not included in the rental cost. The price is calculated based on the price scale indicated on the present contract and property description. A proof of payment will be given to the client by the owner.

Article 15 : Dispute

Any claim linked to the inspection of the accommodation has to be placed with Gites de France Regional Booking Office within 3 days after arrival on the property.
Any other claim has to be made in writing as soon as possible. In case of unsolved dispute, claims can be referred to the Customer and Quality Service of the National Federation of Gîtes de France and Tourisme Vert in order to find an out of court agreement.
